Armenia's purchase of weapon from any country represents a factor of great destabilization in the region, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Political Analysis and Information Provision Department head Elnur Aslanov told journalists on Friday.

"Armenia's policy on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict or in the region once again shows that it is an unconstructive factor in the region and demonstrates this country's destructive role," Aslanov said.

He said any purchase of weapons does not offer peace and stability in the region, on the contrary, causes obstacles.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry accuses Armenia of arming beyond its commitments. At present, the Armenian Armed Forces have 48,884 soldiers and officers, 45,000 soldiers and officers are positioned in Nagorno-Karabakh. It totals 93,000 people.

According to commitments made in 1992, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have 70,000 soldiers and officers.
