Expert: Post-Soviet countries must create conditions for competition in national economy

29 September 2011 [16:35] - TODAY.AZ
Twenty years of experience in the construction of independent countries in the former Soviet Union have made it clear that it is impossible to resist exacerbated external challenges without integration and effectively combining potentials, the Chief Editor of the Vestnik Kavkaza and Trend Expert Council Member Alexei Vlasov said at the academic conference titled "Preventing the spread of extremist ideology in the Caucasus," dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence on Thursday.

The expert stressed a significant role of economic and political relations in the "Moscow-Astana-Baku" triangle.

"We have much to learn from each other," he said. "Twenty years of experience in constructing independent countries in the former Soviet Union has made it clear that it is impossible to resist exacerbated external challenges without integrating and effectively combining potentials. This was determined by Heydar Aliyev and Nursultan Nazarbayev. Russia has followed this point since the very beginning. At present, Moscow and Astana are the engines of integrative interactions in the post-Soviet space. We must create conditions for transition to a higher level of competition in national economies."
