Chairman of Azerbaijan Supreme Court makes report at Roundtable in Kyiv

Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev has made a report at the Roundtable on the Role of Supreme Courts in Protecting Human Rights at the National Level in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Organized and supported by the Ukrainian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the roundtable brought together chief justices, judges and judicial experts from 47 member states of the European Council.

Rzayev made a report on the role of Azerbaijan`s Supreme Court in the system of justice authorities and government. Rzayev said the government of Azerbaijan declared building a democratic, secular and constitutional state as its number one priority since independence.
He noted the government attaches particular emphasis to strengthening protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as integrating into the world community and building friendly and cooperative relations with European countries.

Rzayev said Azerbaijan joined a number of Council of Europe Conventions since joining the organization in 2001.
