Matthew Bryza: The peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a priority for President Obama and Secretary Clinton

US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza responded to the address of more than 1000 Azerbaijani women, on the initiative of the Karabakh Liberation Organization (KLO) Women Council, to the UN Secretary-General and presidents of the United States, Russia and France.

KLO press service said that in his letter to chairwoman of the Women Council Farida Asgarova, Ambassador Bryza explained the position of his country: “The peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a priority for President Obama and Secretary Clinton. Therefore it is a priority for me, as the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan”.

Bryza noted in his letter that only peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict can provide the development of Azerbaijan and stability of whole South Caucasus region: “As the ambassador, I will do my best to support the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the conflicting parties to prevent flaring up of hostilities and to achieve fair, peaceful and long-term solution to the conflict through the negotiations”.

KLO Women Council thanked Ambassador Bryza for his quick reaction and expressed hope to receive responses from the UN representation, Russian and French embassies.
