Azeri ombudsperson attending OSCE conference in Vilnius

Azerbaijan`s Commissioner for Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova is participating in an OSCE Conference for National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Suleymanova will make a speech at the event.

The 2-day conference is organized by the Lithuanian OSCE Chairmanship and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights. It brings together ombudsmen from a number of countries, international human rights experts and civil society representatives.

The conference will feature three sessions on “NHRIs and their role in promoting and protecting human rights”, “NHRIs and governments” and “NHRIs and civil society”. The conference will build on the findings from the OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting on NHRIs held on April 14-15 2011 in Vienna and the 24th Annual Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC) on May 17-19 in Geneva.
