Member of House of Lords meets Azeri MP

Visiting member of the House of Lords and UK-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group Mrs. Baroness Mary Goudie yesterday met with chairwoman of the Milli Majlis's committee for human rights Rabiyyat Aslanova.

Mrs. Aslanova said relations between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom were steady developing.

The chairwoman noted Mrs. Goudie's visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing relationship between the countries.

Aslanova briefed the member of the House of Lords on ongoing processes in Azerbaijan after regaining its independence.

She underlined Azerbaijan was the fastest developing country in the region.

The chairwoman said Armenia's aggressive policy against Azerbaijan led to occupation of 20 percent of the country's territories.

She also added "the country marks 31 March - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis every year".

She said present-day development of Azerbaijan is indeed praiseworthy and a role model.
They stressed reciprocal visits of MPs would contribute to expanding bilateral relations.

During the meeting, they discussed ongoing developments in the world and region, education system and gender equality in Azerbaijan and joint cooperation in these fields.
