ICRC representatives visit Armenians in Azerbaijan

The representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited three Armenian servicemen and five members of a family who are interned in Azerbaijan, spokesperson for Azerbaijani delegation of the ICRC Ilaha Huseynova said.

She said that the detention conditions and physical conditions of the internees were monitored. Their families’ letters were given to them.

Three Armenian servicemen and five civilians are interned in Azerbaijan.

Citizens of Armenia Yegishe, Ruzanna, Alfred, Gayane and Petros Gevorkyans are members of one family. They crossed into Azerbaijani territory in January 2010.

Two of the captives Ohan Arutunyan and Gevorg Tovmasyan crossed into Azerbaijani territory in May, 2009, Karen Arutunyan in July, 2009. They want to be sent to a third country.

Three soldiers of Armenian Army, who had crossed into Azerbaijani territory, were sent to a third country through the mediation of the UN office in Azerbaijan. They are Grant Markosyan, Rafik Tevosyan and Vartan Sarkisian. It is not publicized to which country they were sent.
