
One of the leading newspapers in UAE, Al-Bayan, has published an article on the Khojaly genocide.
According to the Azerbaijan State Committee on Diaspora Affairs, the article, entitled “Azerbaijan commemorates victims of the Khojaly genocide”, highlighted a symposium of Azerbaijani diaspora and Turkish and Arabic communities commemorating the 19th anniversary of the Khojaly massacre.
The newspaper said 613 Azerbaijani civilians were killed, while were 487 injured and 1275 captured in the genocide carried out by the Armenian armed forces with the help of the 366th regiment of the Soviet Union.
The newspaper also emphasized Azerbaijani refugees` and IDPs` hopes of “the soonest and just settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, liberation of Azerbaijan`s occupied lands and restoration of the territorial integrity”.
