"I appreciate the statement by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill that he would do his utmost to fulfill the request of the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board Allahshukur Pashazade, who asked head of the Russian Orthodox Church to help to return dead body of Azerbaijan’s National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov home,” Chairman of the Centre for the Protection of Freedom of Conscience and Religion (DEVAMM), human rights activist, theologian Ilgar Ibrahimoglu said.
"The meeting of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill with the head of the Caucasus Muslims Board Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade is a positive fact and I believe that such meetings contribute to interreligious dialogue," he stressed.
"Unfortunately, the Armenian side, specifically the Armenian Apostolic Church and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II showed no interest in solving the problem related to non-return of Azerbaijani martyr’s body to the Azerbaijani side. The stance of the Armenian Apostolic Church can be interpreted as disregard for Christian values,” Ibrahimoglu said.
“And the fact that Russian Orthodox Church took up this issue shows that it has increasing influence on geopolitical processes in our region. And I do not exclude that over time the influence and authority of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia will be the same as that of the Pope,” DEVAMM chairman stated.
