Azerbaijan is not discussing joining NATO with the alliance, said deputy Foreign Minister of the country Araz Azimov, according to Interfax-Azerbaijan.

The diplomat said while speaking to reporters Monday that the issue of ensuring security "can not be viewed only in terms of national borders. It should also be viewed on the regional, transregional and international levels".
"Therefore, Azerbaijan finds the cooperation with NATO profitable for it. But at the same time, both we and NATO do not have NATO membership on the agenda", Azimov said.
The deputy minister said NATO is obliged to review its expansion policy due to negative experience in conducting this process. Azimov said positive results are obvious in Azerbaijan's policy on Euro-Atlantic integration.
"Azerbaijan conducts this activity to improve its internal system of national security", said he.
