Azerbaijan`s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalaf Khalafov met Friday with Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister Maria de Lourdes Aranda Bezaury, press service of the Ministry said.
Khalafov said Mexican Deputy Foreign Minister`s visit to Azerbaijan will give a push to development of relations between the two states, and underlined it is important that both countries benefit from existing opportunities for expanding their ties.
Khalafov also stressed Azerbaijan`s leading role in the region, adding the country is the initiator of a number of regional energy and transport projects.
He also informed his Mexican counterpart about political, economic and defense reforms in his country.
Khalafov said Azerbaijan places particular emphasis on relations with countries of the American continent.
He said Mexico is the first country in Latin America that Azerbaijan opened its embassy in.
Maria de Lourdes Aranda Bezaury stressed her country is keen to cooperate with Azerbaijan.
She highly praised the opening of Azerbaijani diplomatic representation in Mexico.
The Mexican Deputy FM said her country is especially interested in learning Azerbaijan`s experience in exploitation of energy resources and use of oil incomes.
They also discussed establishment of interparliamentary relations, development of small and medium entrepreneurship, and prospects for experience exchange in the fields of education, health, social development and culture.
