A book titled “The Armenian Question in the Caucasus: Russian Archive Documents and Publications” published by The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) was presented in London, the United Kingdom.

The presentation ceremony attended by Azerbaijan and Turkish ambassadors in the UK Fakhraddin Gurbanov, Ahmet Unal Cevikoz, Azerbaijanis living there, historians and representatives of mass media discussed historical roots of the ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Three-volume book contains documents from the Russian State Historical Archive in St. Petersburg, and the Russian State Military History Archive in Moscow. The historical documents narrate on systematic migration of the Armenians to the Caucasus and their protection during the time of the Russian Empire.

Initiator of the research, Professor Karim Shukurov said that the documents are the key sources taken from Russian archives.

“There is no exact definition of the Armenian Question, but by collecting the material and arranging it correctly, Azerbaijan can seek to gain understanding of its position”, Karim Shukurov emphasized. Lord Laird noted that he recently discovered the South Caucasus area, which has great future potential.

Professor of the US`s Monmouth University Tadeusz Swietochowski underlined the importance of the books and overwhelming details on them. “Azerbaijan`s international position changed, due to the oil revolution during the late 19th century. Baku became a cosmopolitan, and the press center in the Turkish world. The Armenian aggression of 1905–06 changed the situation, and this is charted in the books,” Tadeusz Swietochowski added.
