Expert: ‘Kocharian ‘will be recommended’ not to run for presidency’

Political analyst Zardusht Alizade said not the people, but the oligarchy, the military and other mafia groups decide on the fate of the president post in Armenia. He commented on Armenian experts’ opinions that former President Robert Kocharian will soon return to power.

"In my opinion, they will gather together and put forward a single candidate in the elections. Given present President Serzh Sargsyan’s authority in the military elite, Kocharian ‘will be recommended’ not to run for presidency. Maybe this recommendation will be given in a sharp form. Kocharian has already grabbed, and now it’s Sargsyan’s turn to rob their own people,” Alizade said.

As for the Armenian Diaspora, they decide only donor matters in the country's economy. Recently, the Diaspora’s assistance to Armenia has decreased, the expert noted.
 
"Who will hold the president post in Armenia, largely depends on the position of their masters abroad, he said.
