'Justice was major principle in Heydar Aliyev`s political activity' - UPDATE - PHOTOS

“Heydar Aliyev got information on the happenings not only from newspapers and TV. He brightly knew that in the USSR the mass media and television don`t cover fairly everything”, stated Yuri Solodukhin, former assistant to Heydar Aliyev, former First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1982-1987s, who is visiting Azerbaijan on the invitation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Y. Solodukhin noted that he has been making reports to Heydar Aliyev every morning on coverage of the local and foreign press. Heydar Aliyev used to send his assistants to public places where the people were, to receive objective information. “Heydar Aliyev was very interested in welfare of masses. In contrast to others, he regularly watched “Vremya” program of news.

Justice was the major principle in Heydar Aliyev`s political activity, Solodukhin stressed.

Former members of the USSR Council of Ministers Secretariat and KGB 9th directorate who worked with national leader Heydar Aliyev for long years held a press conference to share their memoirs about the great leader.

Former representative of USSR Council of Ministers Secretariat Vladimir Ukhov said Baku is getting nicer and younger by the year, but still is an ancient city. Ukhov thanked Heydar Aliyev Foundation for organization of the visit and hailed Foundation`s activity, describing it as ‘significant’.

The guests answered questions related with national leader Heydar Aliyev`s activity during 1982-1987s. They stressed that Heydar Aliyev was fair, accurate and responsible person.

Press centre of Interfax-Azerbaijan news agency hosted a meeting with former members of the Secretariat of the Deputy Chairman of USSR Council of Ministers Heydar Aliyev and the 9th Directorate of the State Security Committee of the Soviet Union.

The delegation comprised of the Head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Heydar Aliyev Vladimir Ukhov, his physician Alexander Borodkin, assistants Edward Prokhorenko, Yuri Solodukhin, and others.

Heydar Aliyev Foundation supports their visit to Azerbaijan. These people surrounded national leader Heydar Aliyev in the period of his activity in Politburo of the USSR, accompanied him during his visits abroad, watched his health and were responsible for his safety.

The purpose of the delegation’s visit to Azerbaijan is to discuss state activity of Heydar Aliyev during the period 1982–1987, and also his life behind the scenes.
