Japan embassy in Baku hosts official reception

The Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan organized Wednesday an official reception on the country`s national holiday – the 77th birthday of Emperor Akihito. Opening the event, Ambassador Shusuke Watanabe said that Japanese Emperor is the symbol of the state and of the unity of the people according to the constitution. He stressed Emperor`s Birthday is marked as national holiday in Japan.

Japan ambassador congratulated Azerbaijan on the election as non-permanent member to UN Security Council. “The two countries` bilateral cooperation has been developing rapidly since Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev`s visit to Japan in 2006. I also express my gratitude to Azerbaijan for assistance to Japan for elimination of the consequences of the natural disaster,” Shusuke Watanabe added.

Addressing the ceremony, Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev congratulated the Japanese nation on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. He also remembered national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev`s visits to Japan in 1998 and 2006 respectively.

Shahin Mustafayev expressed his confidence on boosting relations between Azerbaijan and Japan underlining active cooperation in different spheres. The event was attended by Azerbaijani officials, parliamentarians of the Milli Majlis and representatives of local community.
