Kibot, the babysitting robot - VIDEO

15 July 2011 [22:51] - TODAY.AZ
A Korean telecoms company has invented a robot that's part babysitter, part teacher.

KT Corporation's $450 (£279) Kibot is 12 inches high and resembles a toy monkey. It also has an integrated webcam and wi-fi and can read, sing and speak to its young charges in several languages.

Children can use a series of flash cards to communicate with the robot.

Likewise, if Joy's mother Gina can't see her children, she can control the robot from work using her phone, getting it to search the house for 4-year-old Joy and 1-year-old Juwon.

Gina told ABC News: "We trust our babysitter, but sometimes it's much better to have someone or something else monitoring my babies.

"In that sense, this remote feature makes me feel hands on, connected all the time."
