Azerbaijan and Austria discussed the prospects of "Nabucco" gas pipeline

Azerbaijani Minister of Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev discussed issues of mutual cooperation in energy, in particular the prospects of the project pipeline "Nabucco", to export gas from Central Asia and the Caspian region to Europe with the Federal Minister of Economics and Labor of Austria Reinhold Mitterlenerom.
"Azerbaijan sees Austria as a partner in the delivery of hydrocarbons to the European market" Natik Aliyev said at a meeting with Federal Minister for Economy and Labor of Austria Reinhold Mitterlenerom, reportsTrend News correspondent in Vienna.

According to the Austrian Minister, the gas conflict occurred in late 2008, early 2009 between Russia and Ukraine showed the importance of alternative sources of energy supplies to Europe and "Nabucco is a priority."

As gas "Nabucco", worth 7.9 billion euros, it is to supply gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to EU countries. Maximum capacity of the pipeline will be 31 billion cubic meters a year.

Participants in the project are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE. Each participant has equal shares - for 16,67 percent. Construction of the pipeline is scheduled for 2011, first deliveries of the pipeline will begin in 2014-m.
