Old bridges to be reconstructed

He said the bridge near Metro was built 40 years ago, APA reports.

The road bridges were constructed under low technology. We tested the breaking strain. The bridge needs repairing, supports should be strengthened, he noted.

He said reconstruction activities will commence as from March and at the same time a road bridge near 20 Yanvar Metro and a tunnel in Tbilisi Avenue will be commissioned in this month.

Gurbanov added that 18 more bridges will be built in Baku, and Gadabey, Tovuz-Alibayli and Lahic highways will be repaired during 2007.

The repair activities will be implemented through funding from the Highways Budget Fund.
