Iran-Azerbaijan energy transfer to increase

Energy Minister Parviz Fattah said here on Wednesday that with the completion of power lines and ongoing projects, the transfer capacity of electricity between Iran and Azarbaijan Republic will increase to 600 MW.

Fatah said after meeting Azerbaijan's First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov that there is sufficient capacity to increase power transmission between the two countries which currently stands at 200 MW.

He added that a total of dlrs 75 million has been allocated for the project to establish high capacity power transmission lines between two countries which is being implemented by Sanir Company.

He recalled that an agreement was signed in the summer for sharing the waters from Aras River and joint use of the planned Ordubad dam and hydroelectric power station whose construction is scheduled to begin next summer.
