President Aliyev attends opening of a module power station in Astara district

The head of state stated that the opening of a module power station is directed at removal of shortages in energy provision of regions. Power stations of the type will built in five regions, including Nakhchivan and Khachmaz and cover the demand for 500MW electricity, Trend reports in reference to ANS local television.

During his remarks the President paid special attention to the energy security issues and added that Azerbaijan is secured through the contribution of natural resources.

Aliyev also noted that 340,000 new jobs have been opened in the country and considerable work has been done to reduce poverty in the country. Next rise in wages and pensions in 2006 will decrease the ratio.

The station is located in 10km of Arkivan village, noting the absence of any plans of visiting other facilities during the tour. The module power station in Astara District was comprised of 10 modules and was built under the agreement between Azerenergy JSC and Finnish company Wartsila on the construction of 5 power stations with the general capacity of 450MW.

Equivalent fuel used at module power stations comprises 270 grams. The efficiency ratio of the rig is approximately 45.5%-46% and it does not fall during the entire exploitation period.
