Graves belonging to 300 BC discovered in Cyprus

Cypriot workers stumbled upon three ancient burial during excavation in the village of Agios Silas west of the city of Limassol on the south coast of Cyprus. This was announced by state television on Wednesday CYBC.

Bucket opened the cave in which were found, according to preliminary estimates, the remains of seven people and personal belongings buried, as well as various artifacts, including several amphorae.

Police alerted about the discovery Limassol District Archaeological Department. His spokesman Yiannis Violaris reported that initial acquaintance with the detected objects suggests that we are talking about the graves of the Hellenistic period, relating to approximately 300 BC “You can make a preliminary conclusion that we have three large burial space, which apparently have not been previously opened, - he said. - We have identified the presence there of seven people skeletons, amphorae of various sizes and other products.”

Near Limassol are many archaeological sites, the most famous of which is the ancient city-state of Curio.
