Kamaladdin Heydarov: I am sure that our athletes will bravely fight to win medals and get the chance to compete in London Olympic Games

Last years our boxers have reached great achievements in international competitions. A construction of new administrative building for Azerbaijan Boxing Federation (ABF) will be a new stimulus for our sportsmen, ABF President Kamaladdin Heydarov told journalists in groundbreaking ceremony of the administrative building.

He said not only boxers from the capital, but also sportsmen from all regions of Azerbaijan will be in trainings here. “The 2011 AIBA World Boxing Championships which will be held from September 22 - October 10, 2011 in Baku will have a particular significance as the first major qualifying event for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Our boxers have done a serious preparation for this championship. I am sure that our athletes will bravely fight to win medals and get the chance to compete in London Olympic Games.

Concerning recent allegations made on BBC Newsnight against International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) and ABF, Heydarov called them “slander”. “Spreading unserious information based on someone`s false words is not a good case”, ABF president said.

“AIBA and ABF have all necessary facts that allegations are slander but nothing else. Therefore our boxers should train much and prove in the world championship that all their sayings are stuff and nonsense. AIBA has taken serious measures against corruption and carried out great reforms for maintenance of transparency over the last years. No one can cast a shadow on its image”, Heydarov underscored.
