Jonathan Tehau headed in a goal early in the second half at the Mineirao Stadium to reduce the deficit to 3-1. The Tahitians then gave their rowing boat celebration its biggest audience yet.
Nnamdi Oduamadi scored a hat-trick for the African champions, while Elderson Echiejile added two more.
Tehau also scored an own-goal.
