Hand-to-hand world champion stabbed by knife in Baku

A world champion was stabbed with a knife in Azerbaijan’s capital, Binagadi district police office told APA.

It happened in Bilajari settlement of Binagadi district. World champion Chiragov Bahruz Hasan was knifed by Elnur Yaver Mehdiyev. Chiragov, who was knifed 13 times, was hospitalized. He is in critical condition.

Mehdiyev has been detained. The incident reportedly happened because of personal relations. Chiragov is a world champion in hand to hand combat, head coach of Mahammad Ali sport club.
