80 wanted people detained during operations on Azerbaijan-Russia borders, Interior Ministry says

According to the join action plan approved by the interior ministries of Azerbaijan and Russia, comprehensive search and preventive operations were held on borders between the two countries.

Press service of the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan said the measures were conducted for the prevention of transnational organized crime, terrorist activities, trafficking in arms, explosives and other ammunition, drug trafficking and other illegal actions, as well as for revealing the channels transferring.

50 people wanted by the Azerbaijani law-enforcement bodies, 30 wanted by Russia were detained, large amount of arms and drug were confiscated.

The preventive measures conducted under the code name “Sarhad” lasted from September 19 to 25.
