
Alcohol consumption has been reduced in Azerbaijan since 2006, national expert of the WHO representation in Azerbaijan Sevil Asadova said.
She said most of death cases in Azerbaijan were caused by the heart-vascular diseases. “Therefore the risks causing these diseases are being investigated now. Tobacco, alcohol consumption, inactive life style and abnormal nutrition are among these risks”.
Asadova said 25% of Azerbaijani population suffered overweight. “It is related to nutrition and increases the risk factor. We will prepare a concept for educating people about the risk factors. It will describe the consequences of tobacco and alcohol consumption, inactive life style, as well as abnormal nutrition”.
Asadova said Azerbaijani people prefer eating meat and dairy butter than milk products and vegetables.
