
The Prosecutor General’s Office issues a statement on the results of anti-corruption measures taken from January to September, 2011 in Azerbaijan.
Press service of the Office said that anti-corruption department of the Prosecutor’s Office launched 133 criminal investigations and 88 of them were completed and investigative materials about 147 persons were sent to the courts. These cases are mostly related to bribery, illegal interference in the official’s decision, abuse of office, office falsification, misappropriation, money laundering, and other facts.
The rights of suffered individuals and legal entities were restored and AZN 3 965 000 of damages on them were compensated. Properties of some suspects were seized in the necessary cases. Introductions were sent to relevant government agencies and private institutions for the prevention of cases which create conditions for corruption.
The anticorruption department continues investigation of 86 corruption cases now and the public community will be regularly informed about the results of investigation.
