Georgia hosts regional conference on treatment with lifers

A regional conference on confinement conditions of and treatment with life-term prisoners in South Caucasus was held in Tbilisi, Georgia. The conference, initiated by the Central Office of the Penal Reform International, saw presentations on the issue in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.

Head of the Public relations department of the Penitentiary Service of the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry, Colonel Mehman Sadigov made a speech during the event and spoke of Azerbaijan`s life imprisonment practices, legislation in the sphere and confinement conditions for lifers.
The attendees have also exchanged views on requirements of international legislation and international experience in protection of rights of lifers.
