Azerbaijan to rescind parental rights in cases of domestic violence

Parents committing domestic violence against their children may be deprived of their parental rights.

The move is envisaged by amendments to Azerbaijan's Family Code.

Amendments to the code were discussed at a meeting of the Parliamentary Social Policy Committee and the bill was sent to parliament for discussion.

The committee meeting also discussed amendments to the law on public health.

Under the amendments, it is envisaged to provide free professional medical care for domestic violence victims in facilities of governmental health care system.

This bill has been also submitted to the parliament for discussion.
