Azerbaijan to establish additional facilities for sewage treatment

Azerbaijan is likely to install additional facilities for sewage treatment, Azerbaijani Ecology and Mineral Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told reporters on Saturday.

"Construction of a sewage treatment system is underway in Hovsan. Much untreated sewage is still dumped into the Caspian Sea and this process must be prevented," he added.

Bagirov said the ministry is carrying out activities to clean up the beaches of the Caspian Sea through certain means

"The main goal is to clean up not only beaches, but also contaminated sites of the coast" he said.

Bagirov said the laboratories that control the water content has been functioning for four years.
