Famous Iranian football player of Azerbaijani origin dies

Famous Iranian football player of Azerbaijani origin Nasir Hijazi died, Iranian ISNA news agency reported.

Nasir Hijazi was born in 1949 in Tehran. His father was born in Tabriz and was engaged real estate sale and purchase in this city. Hijazi was Iran's national football team’s main goalkeeper in 1970s. He was declared by the Asian Football Confederation as the second best goalkeeper of the Asian continent in the 20th century.

Hijazi was ill with lung cancer in recent years. He died at the Kesra Clinic in Tehran on May 23.
