The State Veterinary Service under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture denies rumors of FMD infection (infectious disease of cattle) in the village Garaguney in Sabirabad region, the state service said.
In recent years, as a result of work in Azerbaijan for the prevention of livestock disease, such cases were not registered. In April 2010, cattle was vaccinated as in previous years, in all parts of the country, including Sabirabad region.
The vaccines were purchased owing to funds allocated from the state budget, as well as through humanitarian assistance of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). A few days ago there was information about foot and mouth disease of cattle that are infected in the village Garaguney in Sabirabad. After making analyses, it was revealed that the cattle died as a result of parasitic diseases, the report said.
"It is impossible to form opinions about foot-and-mouth disease and other such serious diseases without an appropriate laboratory tests," the report said.
The State Veterinary Service informed that vaccination for the prevention of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is carried out in Azerbaijan in a timely manner. The epizootic situation is stable not only in the village Garaguney, but in all other regions of the country.
