The Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan has hosted a presentation on use of computer and information technologies in education sector.

Education Minister Misir Mardanov said that within state program on computerization of comprehensive schools for 2005-2007 the State Budget allocated 30 million manats and 80.6% of them were spent on purchase of technical equipment, 15% on preparation of electronic training aids, 4% on courses, and 0.4% on program management.
“Within the program 3 693 schools got 31 677 computers, 1 103 notebooks and projectors, 2 059 UPS, 2 060 printers and other equipment, 28 661 computer desks, 23 346 chairs. Besides, there were created 1 722 computer classes and prepared electronic training aids,’ the minister said.
Within the program it was developed 37 900 training aids on 20 names, 15 160 (8 types) on chemistry, 12 types and 22 740 aids on biology, 3 types and 10 200 aids on physics. 20 000 teachers passed training courses. An information and resource centre was set up, 20 schools joined E-School Project, 226 sets of computer facilities upgraded and 300 new computers distributed.
Within pilot project “1 pupil – 1 computer” in the pilot schools the Ministry allotted 236 netbooks and corporation Intel – 100 netbooks. 500 educational institutions were connected to educational network. Last year financing for all these ends in 2009 totaled 14,980 manats against 8.35 million manats in 2008.
