LARGE GOLD FIELD DISCOVERED IN AZERBAIJAN

Country’s Environment Minister Huseyn Bagirov says that a new promising gold field has been found in Goy-Gol region.

“Several years ago when we started surveys at Chovdar field we were unsure in its productivity. But now it is one of the richest gold fields in Azerbaijan and production of precious metal will begin in the next 1.5-2 years. After study on the field in Goy-Gol it became clear that it is richer than Chovdar. It is still difficult to call any figures of Goy-Gol field volumes,” the minister said.

He added that gold field research was also being conducted in the Greater Caucasus.

According to data as of April, Azerbaijan, which began industrial gold production in July 2009, has already produced 653 kg of gold.
