Azerbaijani Ombudsman to attend international event in Vienna

A meeting entitled "Promoting gender equality and women's participation in political life" will be held under the OSCE auspices in Vienna on May 6-7.

Azerbaijan will be represented at the event by the human rights commissioner (ombudsman) Elmira Suleymanova, the Ombudsman’s Office said.

The event will be attended by ombudsmen from several countries, international experts in the field of human rights, including women's rights and gender equality and NGO representatives.

Participants will exchange views on gender sensitivity in policy and decision-making and will discuss possibility of providing international support in this direction.

In her speech, the ombudsman of Azerbaijan will note that her country attaches great importance to women's rights, including gender equality, improves legislation and institutionalization in this area. The strategy on implementation of policies on women is being realized successfully.
