The Azerbaijan Council of Press has written off all debts of newspapers and magazines on membership fees, accumulated by 2008.

Day.Az reports with reference to the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety that the due information was provided by secretary of the Council of Press Rahim Huseynzade.
He said council chairman Aflatun Amashov has repeatedly raised the session of writing off debts on membership fees at the session of Azerbaijani journalists.
"This issue has already been settled. We have taken this step as newspapers are not able to pay. In line with the rules of charter, if a newspaper or a magazine fail to pay the membership fees, they would be expelled from the council of press", said Huseynzade.
The secretary noted that despite it, they took into account the state of newspapers and wrote off all their debts.
