Gobustan prisoners stop hunger strike

03 April 2007 [20:47] - TODAY.AZ
Prisoners of Azerbaijani Gobustan jail stopped hunger strike on Tuesday.

Chief of the jail Alizade Huseynov told the APA that they stopped the hunger strike after representatives of Penitentiary Service and doctors talked to them.

"The prisoners already know that the country and international community are aware of their demands. They wanted this and achieved their goals. In this case, there was no use to continue the hunger strike. So, they stopped the hunger strike," he said.

Huseynov noted that 10 prisoners appealed to him on stopping the hunger strike.
Ten prisoners started hunger strike on March 27 demanding commuting life sentence to 15-year of imprisonment.
