Parents of the detained Azerbaijani parliamentarian Huseyn Abdullayev and his lawyer today held a press conference.

Shafiga Naghiyeva, lawyer for Huseyn Abdullayev said that some points of the incident between parliamentarians Huseyn Abdullayev and Fazail Agamali have to be clarified, APA reports.

"Fazail Agamali, having brain injury attended the parliament's sitting till the end and later told journalists that he does not need to see a doctor," she said.

The lawyer noted that Huseyn Abdullayev promised to apologize to the parliamentarians in the next sitting of the parliament, but he was not allowed doing it and arrested.

"Huseyn Abdullayev was detained on the way to OSCE Office in Baku and prevented from going to the parliament," she said.

Huseyn Abdulayev’s father Abbas Abdullayev also said that his son was arrested illegally. He protested against calling his son a hooligan. His mother Zeyneb Abdullayeva appealed to President Ilham Aliyev for releasing her son on bail.

A group of art figures also appealed to President Aliyev for Huseyn Abdullayev's release.

MPs Fazail Agamali and Huseyn Abdullayev had a conflict at the parliament's sitting on March 16. Fazail Agamali appealed to the law enforcement bodies and said that he was offended and underwent physical pressure.

The parliament annulled Abdullayev's parliamentary immunity at Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov's demand.

A criminal case has been launched against him on Article 221.2.2 (hooliganism) and 132 (beating). Huseyn Abdullayev is being kept in Bayil Detention Place #1.
