Rafig Ramazanov, chief of Penitentiary Service of Justice Ministry told the APA that ten strikers – Shakir Rzakhanov, Dayanat Kerimov, Rahib Mesimov, Ali Guliyev, Elbrus Ibrahimov, Ramiz Gedirov, Intigam Gayibov, YAdigar Bakhsheliyev, Chingiz Pashayev and Elnur Gahramanov are under doctor's control.
Ramazanov said that despite declare of hunger strike, the protesters have water and cigarette.
The protesting lifers demand commuting their life sentence to 15-year imprisonment.
Elchin Behbudov, chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture told the APA that some of their demands can be met.
"Some of them were sentenced for grave crimes. But some of them deny the charges. I think some of the protesting lifers have received greater part of their punishment, and do not present danger for the society. So, their punishment can be commuted to 15-year of imprisonment," he said.
Some human rights defenders have already started monitoring in Gobustan jail. Chingiz Ganizade, chief of the Committee for Democracy and Human Rights told the APA that the results of the monitoring will be announced today.
