NTRC bans display of films in foreign languages in Azerbaijan

National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council (NTRC) held meeting.

Chief of the council Nushirevan Meherremli told the APA that the meeting adopted decision on banning broadcast of films in foreign languages in Azerbaijan.

According to him, the TV channels in Azerbaijan are banned to display cartoons, feature and documentary films, serials in foreign languages from January 1, 2008.

NTRC members also commented on the law on medications that bans broadcasting commercials about medicines. Taking into consideration that there is controversy between this law and law on television and radio broadcasting, NTRC members considered it important to appeal to Azerbaijan's parliament.

Delegation of Turkey radio television Institution is reported to visit Azerbaijan in early April. Protocol on development of bilateral partnership and unity of work will be signed between the institutions in the frame of the visit.

NTRC has not held discussions on regional Aygun TV channel.
