President Aliyev declares 2007 as "Youth Year"

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev today issued an executive order to declare 2007 as "Youth Year."

The head of state confirmed the plan of measures on the "Youth Year." These measures include holding of scientific-practical conferences, exhibitions, youth festivals, republic-wide meetings of talented children and youths, competitions and etc.

The plan of measures also envisages holding of international youth conference on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict in May this year, participation of Azerbaijani youth delegation in the events on the 100th anniversary of the World Scout Movement and in the 21st World Scout Jamboree in Great Britain, holding of an international conference - "Youth's role in conflict settlement," youth days of GUAM countries in Baku, the 3rd forum of youth leaders of the CIS countries and Baltic States as well as forum of Turkish-speaking countries' state bodies and public organizations for work with youth.

In addition to these measures, young couples and military servicemen will receive preferential mortgage loans. The construction of youth palace will start in the capital Baku in the framework of the Youth Year.

Besides, various events will be organized for comprehensive and higher schools.

According to the plan, relevant measures will be implemented for forming a Foundation of Support to Youth Policy at the Youth and Sports Ministry. APA
