No desertion cases recorded last year

Board meeting was held in Azerbaijan Military Prosecutor's Office with participation of the officers of central body and military prosecutors.

Fighting against crimes, strengthening legislative and juridical rules, the steps taken for protection of human rights and freedoms were discussed at the meeting.

First Deputy Prosecutor General, military prosecutor Khanlar Veliyev gave information about the activity of the prosecutor's bodies.

Prosecutor noted that logistics of Azerbaijani Army has strengthened; serious measures were taken for improvement of social position of servicemen and allocations to the Armed Forces reached $1bn.

Veliyev said that criminal cases reduced by 19.7% compared with 2005. The crimes against military service reduced by 16.7%, crimes on draft evasion by 31.3% and nonmilitary crimes reduced by 28.9%. The crimes on desertion from military units were not recorded last year. The deliberate murder cases committed within previous years were uncovered. The crimes against subordination rules increased by 12%, the crimes on violating the rules of regulations of mutual relations between the servicemen having no subordination relations by 36%, crimes against property increased by 25.6%.

Prosecutor said that "Collection of military laws" were published by the Military Prosecutor's Office and delivered the Armed Forces. APA
