Azeri doctor denies bird flu death

"The information about a patient infected with bird flu and brought to our institute from Salyan and the death of that man is uncorrect," said head physician of the Scientific Institute of Lungs Diseases Khayyam Mammadov.

He told the APA that a patient was brought to the institute from Salyan, but did not have bird flu he was diagnosed pneumonia. The patient is being cured at the moment. Special ward allotted for the patients infected with bird flu has already been closed.

"We closed the ward as there is no bird flu risk. But if necessary, we can restore the ward within 2 hours by the order of Health Ministry. There is all necessary equipment to cure bird flu in our institute," he said.
