Lawyer's appeal for Interior Minister's bearing testimony in Haji Mammadov trial dismissed

Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

Public prosecutors solicited for declaring controversial nuances regarding defendant Farhad Mammadbayov's testimonies to the investigation and to the trial.

Mammadbayov did not confirm the testimony to the investigation on Haji Mammadov's extra marital partner Naila Guliyeva and said his testimonies upon the trial are true.

Lawyer Hazi Mammadov solicited for Interior Minister Ramil Usubov's testifying upon the trial as witness. He said he will ask questions to the Minister whether the Ministry's high ranking officials were aware of the gang's crimes, Garabulag holiday resort built by Haji Mammadov.

The lawyer called Usubov 'senior general' and Zakir Nasirov, former chief of the Crime Investigation Department 'senior general.' Nasirov get furious by the solicitation and appealed for its rejection.

"Lawyer Hazi Mammadov defended all the defendants, except his defendant Aslanbek Kentamirov. Isn't he ashamed of signing protocols against Aslanbek during the preliminary investigation," Nasirov said.

Public prosecutor Abdullah Yusifov demanding dismissal of the solicitation saying additional witnesses can bear testimony after all evidences are investigated. Judge dismissed Hazi Mammadov's solicitation.

The trial will continue on 26 September, APA reports.
