Saudi youth delegation visits Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan Minister of Youth and Tourism Azad Rahimov has met with the visiting delegation of Saudi Arabia led by Chief of the Department of Travels, Festivals and International Relations of the country's General Presidency of Youth Welfare Abdulaziz Al-Dahil.

The delegation includes representatives of Saudi youth involved in the fields of education, sports, geography, oil, linguistics and ecology.

Azad Rahimov spoke of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the area of youth and sports, and successful participation of Azerbaijani sportsmen in prestigious international competitions. He noted that youth make up 65% of the Azerbaijan's population, and that lawmaking and administrative bodies of the country largely employ youth.

The Minister underlined the need for experience and information exchange between Azerbaijani and Saudi Arabian youth.

During the visit to last till September 17, the members of the Saudi delegation will toured historical and cultural monuments and museums in Baku, Shamakha, Ganja, Sheki and Gobustan, travel to other picturesque corners of the country, as well as be in Sabirabad to see living conditions of the internally displaced people living here.

On the first day, the guests visited the National Olympic Committee, Baku Olympic Sports Center, the Tofik Bahramov Republican Stadium, and historical-architectural preserve Icheri Sheher.

Head of the Saudi delegation Abdulaziz Al-Dahil said he was very pleased with his first trip to Azerbaijan, and thanked President Ilham Aliyev and other officials for the great hospitality.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan Ali Hasan Ahmad Jafar.
