H5N1 is not observed in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan's State Veterinary Service analyzed the blood samples taken from 36 wild birds from Absheron peninsula, Pirallahi Island, Devechi, Salyan, Aghjabedi, Lenkeran and coastal areas and also 2214 birds from poultry farms during the monitoring held from August 21-25.

None of the samples have tested positive, Agriculture Ministry SVS told the APA. The samples were analyzed with sensitive PZR apparatus. During the monitoring held by SVS, ENRM and Health Ministry no dead birds were found.

The SVS stated that import of poultry products and fowling of wild migratory birds is still prohibited.
