Interior Ministry held 'round table'

Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov, other officers of the Ministry have taken part in action, members of Board of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, editors-in-chief of the leading newspapers of the country, heads of news agencies attended the event.

Usubov has noted, that the 'round table', goal of which consists in definition of ways of regulation of relations between journalists and police, is connected to the facts that recently some media organs published prejudiced materials concerning Ministries of Internal Affairs whereby the persons were insulted and events distorted.

The discontent in this connection has reached the judicial instances. Some publications used offensive expressions to address of police even in day of its professional holiday, the Minister emphasized. This is disrespect in relation to memory of hundreds employees of police, victims in battles, during operations.

Minister has mentioned the concrete facts concerning decrease for last decade criminality in all areas. However, a number of publications try to create negative image of law-enforcement bodies as a whole. R. Usubov has characterized all this as unacceptable is shown.

At the same time, he has emphasized, that the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is not interested in settlement of problems with media in judicial instance, arrest of journalists. He has noted importance of making by representatives of mass media of offers concerning regulation of mutual relations.

Minister of Internal Affairs has answered the questions connected with the facts of rendering pressure upon journalists during mass actions, reception of the information from the primary source, arrests of media representatives, AzerTAg reports.
