Elchin Guliyev: "Uzbek and Kirghiz women are reported to be trafficked to other states through Azerbaijan"

He said it is reported that Uzbek and Kirghiz women are trafficked to Turkey, United Arab Emirates and other states through Azerbaijani territory. Guliyev noted that low enforcement bodies detained such transborder criminal gang several months ago.

"The Interior Ministry and State Border Service are taking strong actions in this field, which are giving positive results. Thus, the number of such crimes is decreasing as against the previous years," Guliyev said.

The SBS chief also said he was informed from the media several days ago that Uzbek, Kirghiz and Azerbaijani women passing Azerbaijani border were detained in Turkish border, and an inquiry was sent to Azerbaijan on their way of life.

"But relevant state bodies were not informed of this," he said.

Guliyev noted medical stations are functioning in border checkpoints, and necessary measures are being implemented, APA reports.
