87 700 hectares of Azerbaijani territories to be flooded

In near future the Caspian Sea level will rise 1.5 meters. 87 700 hectares of the territory (1.6%) will be flooded by the sea.

According to APA, the Ecology and National Resources Ministry National Hydrometeorology Department bureau official Imran Mammadov told that the rise of water level in the sea will cause pollution.

In 1971-1977, the water fall by three meters while in 1978-1996 rose by 2.5 meters. The rising tendency was recorded in 2002-2005 too.
