Azeri weight-lifter was stripped of the European gold medal

Azerbaijani weight-lifter Nizami Pashayev, winner of the golden medal of the European Championship, has been punished.

The Youth and Sports Ministry official, secretary-general of Weight-Lifting Federation Ismayil Ismayilov told the APA that the European Weight-Lifting Federation deprived Nizami Pashayev of the golden medal.

"Such events sometimes happen in sports. Forbidden drug was found in Nizami's blood too. Therefore, he was stripped of the medal," he said.
